Training Opportunities

Offered through the Virginia Rifle and Pistol Club, and taught by a National Rifle Association (NRA) certified Pistol and Personal Protection instructor, USA Shooting certified Rifle Coach, and Minnesota certified Permit to Carry instructor, the formal training required to apply for a Minnesota Permit to Carry a firearm is available to club members as well as non-members.

 

Class is held on the VRPC's indoor range in Eveleth, MN and is certified by the Minnesota Bureau of Criminal Apprehension (BCA) as meeting all state mandated training requirements to obtain a Minnesota Permit to Carry a firearm. The class follows the NRA Personal Protection Inside the Home Program, (textbook provided and cost is included in the course fee).

Classes are typically held once monthly, on consecutive Monday and Tuesday evenings starting at 6:00 PM. The fee for this class is $50.00 for VRPC members, and $60.00 for non-members. The VRPC's indoor range is a small bore, rim fire only, range, As such, the required practical shooting portion of the class requires the use of an appropriate handgun. Participants are welcome to use their own, in safe condition, handgun, or may complete this required part of the course with an instructor supplied firearm. Eye protection, including side shields, and hearing protection is required for all participants and observers.
