Practice Sessions

Training.JPG

Typically held on a biweekly basis throughout the summer (May-October) the Practice Sessions held at the Virginia Rifle and Pistol Club outdoor range are informal, but supervised, shooting events designed to allow participants to hone their skills with handguns, pistol caliber rifles and shotguns. A series of steel and/or paper targets are set out on the club's pistol range and shooters may engage these targets in sequences of their choosing.

The only requirements are that all firearms must be in safe operating condition, and that only projectiles consisting of cast, cast and polymer coated, or cast and COPPER plated/washed, lead are used. THE USE OF STEEL CORED AMMO, OR STEEL PENATRATING AMMO IS STRICTLY PROHIBITED!

Eye protection, including side shields, and hearing protection is required for all participants and observers.

These sessions are open to all shooters of any skill/experience level, club membership encouraged but NOT required. These Practice Sessions are a great opportunity for new shooters to gain basic firearm safety knowledge, basic gun handling skills, and basic shooting skills. In attendance at all sessions will be one, or more, range safety officers, as well as experienced shooters who will be more than happy to assist you.
