MOA

Long Range Precision.JPG

A "minute of angle (MOA)" shooting match refers to a competitive shooting event where the accuracy of a shooter is measured using the "minute of angle" (MOA) system, which means that a bullet grouping that is roughly one inch in diameter at 100 yards is considered a "one MOA" group; essentially, the smaller the grouping, the better the shooter's score, and this is typically used in long-range shooting competitions where precise accuracy is crucial.

VRPC MOA matches offer the opportunity for shooters to hone shooting skills related to accuracy and precision. Shooters are grouped into 'Classes' based on the type of firearm being used, typically either bolt action or semiautomatic AR platform rifles. (NO MAGNUMS) There is also a Sportsman class for shooters wanting to use any 'Legal' deer hunting rifle. (NO MAGNUMS)

In keeping with the definition of a 'Minute of Angle', targets ranging from 200 to 500 yards will be between 2 and 5 inches in diameter, and will be engaged in a manner defined by the MOA match director.
